phase 2

Cardio-Endurance

Your cardio-endurance (or aerobic fitness) is a major part of your fitness training. In this phase, you will learn about the different ways to train your cardio, you will also learn about stamina, heart rate zones, V02 max, and much much more!

Cardio-Endurance trains your heart, lungs, mind, muscles, and muscular endurance.

Cardio-Endurance training can be achieved through performing exercises where your heart rate is constantly elevated in what is referred to as steady-state-cardio training or aerobic exercise. This involves activities such as walking, running, swimming, dancing, biking, or any sport that involves a constant state of motion and elevated heart rate.

Benefits of training your cardio-endurance/aerobic fitness include:

  1. Increased strength, stamina, muscular endurance, and vitality!

  2. Stronger immune system

  3. Boosts your mood

  4. Better blood flow and more efficient bodily system functions

  5. Increased energy

Cardio-Endurance training is more than just exercising to be fit and healthy, it’s an integral part of yourself as a human being. We as humans are designed to move; to run, swim, dance, and play. Everything about the way our bodies are designed should be looked at with curiosity; Why is it that our legs are so long and so much stronger than our upper body?, Why do our legs contain the biggest muscles in the human body?, Why are our eyes on the front of our face and our ears on the side of our head? Why are our arms on the side of our bodies and swing in a backwards/forward motion? Why do our lungs take up so much room in our torso? And on and on we can go. But the fact of the matter, is that our bodies are designed with the purpose to move … (to hunt really). Did you know that we are the only mammals on planet Earth that can cool off through sweating? We are the only mammals that can sustain extended periods of cardio, all other mammals have a limit to how long they can run for and have to take a breather (panting) before they can run again. But we as human beings can run for a 100 miles non-stop due to our ability to cool off via sweating. That’s some pretty cool science, right?

Anyways, back to training. What you want to do is find your rhythm, your jam, your way of training your cardio-endurance/aerobic fitness. I specialize in running and swimming, I am a surfer and love love love being in the ocean/water. But I also know how important it is to be diverse in my training and so I enjoy running 2-3 x week. I highly encourage you to take up running and/or swimming, you will feel incredible, you will feel stronger and you will feel much more alive through training your cardio-endurance.
